History in the Grove: Charles Avenue Walking Tour

Discover the fascinating history of one of Miami’s original settlements, Cocoanut Grove, as you stroll down its tree-lined streets. Learn how Bahamian settlers influenced the development of the Grove with their knowledge of tropical plants and native building materials. Reflect upon the legacy of the neighborhood’s early residents, including E. W. F. Stirrup and Mariah Brown. Hear from community stakeholder J.S. Rashid, President & CEO of SECTOR Public Private Partners, Inc., who will share his personal story in calling Coconut Grove home.
